Project area located in West Leyden, town of Lewis, Lewis County, New York. Spans West Branch of the Mohawk River: bridge replacement. Paragraph 3 [Phase I Reconnaissance] archaeological examination. Survey methods: file search, interviews, literature and document search, surface inspection, shovel test pits. No prehistoric or historic sites identified. Artifacts: bone, nails, metal, brick, glass, historic ceramics, whiteware, earthenware, porcelain, redware. Recommendations: project will not adversely affect any significant cultural resources. This report includes eleven maps, artifact catalog, one building-structure inventory form, one on-site inspection for potential cultural impact form, twenty-four photographs.
